- 00:00:14.7 In the previous mid-term business plan, we set the plan to achieve sales of 10 billion yen and operating income of 1.5 billion yen.
As the result, we could report sales of 14.3 billion yen and operating income of 1.75 billion yen, which far exceed the plan.
I think that, in the course of this process, we made three new achievements.
First, sales of our fees-based business grew to 2 billion yen.
The business had greatly relied on marketing activities, especially advertising, but during these past 3 years the fixed monthly billing services have grown to reach 2 billion yen from BtoB and BtoC operations, thus providing us with stable revenues.
Second, our domestic retail sales increased to 5.9 billion yen, representing more than 40% of overall net sales.
By this achievement, we acquired the second major source of revenues in istyle’s business model that had greatly relied on marketing and advertising activities.
And third, overseas business sales grew to 2.5 billion yen, representing 17% of overall net sales.
After our shares were firstly listed on the stock exchange, I announced that we would make investment in overseas markets and establish overseas subsidiaries; I now feel that our previous efforts and challenges have finally started to bear fruits one by one.
In addition, we redefined @cosme drastically, because not only the business environment, net world itself and technologies, but also users are continually changing.
@cosme started as a cosmetics review site, but we have continued to remodel the site by redefining it as a place to find any and all beauty-related information online since the year before last.
As the result, MAU (monthly active users) increased by more than 160% to 14.24 million users, while DAU (daily active users) grew by more than 170% to 840 thousand users.
I feel such user increases prove that the efforts we made over the three years have produced a tangible result.
