【ノート】
About the enhancement of SUBARU's specialty passive safety performance: In 2016, we launched new Impreza, which was the first Japanese car with pedestrian protection airbag. As indicated in the accident statistics presented in an earlier slide, a number of fatal traffic accidents involve bicycles, but pedestrian airbag cannot effectively protect the head of a cyclist hit by a car. Therefore, we are now researching an airbag system to protect cyclists from collision impact. There are many cases of traffic accidents in which elderly passengers are killed. As the bone strength of the elderly is inferior to that of younger adult males, who usually used as a benchmark, airbag inflation timing and seat belt force control are the keys to protect the elderly more effectively. To this end, we will engage in R&D activities to embody ideas such as using EyeSight to coordinate the earlier inflation of airbags and adjusting restraint force using the information detected with DMS such as passenger’s age. Thus, we would like to eliminate fatal accidents in 2030 through the enhancement of these three aspects: advancement of ADAS, utilization of AACN, and enhancement of passive safety.
