- 00:26:59.0 Now, let's take a look at this transparent polypropylene. It may look identical to other materials of this kind, but it is microwavable. This is another point of appeal that is instantly recognizable.
In fact, I have a funny story. You may have seen this thin OPS hood in supermarket sections where shoppers can use tongs to pick the tempura they want. These hoods are so tightly stacked that when people try to take one, they may eventually take two. Some shoppers deliberately take two because they feel a single hood is not strong enough.
The hood is put to close the container like this. Then, we say it fits. This has slashed polypropylene consumption by 25%. It cannot be used in two-ply form. It is easy to take a single sheet at a time. As a result, we were able to create a hood that fits. We have already heard from a client who learned about this material that they wish to change to hoods made of microwavable polypropylene.
The traditional OPS is weak in terms of oil resistance and heat resistance. The OPET offers good oil resistance, thereby solving the heat resistance issue. This enhanced heat resistance makes transparent polypropylene microwavable.
There are no forming manufacturers who produce transparent OPS sheets. They purchase sheets and form them. We are no exception. In regards to OPET, we produce sheets and form them. We have already invested in the portion of the cost that depreciates. We take this into account when we calculate the cost, and the portion that depreciates will stay with us in form of cash. Because we purchase OPS sheets, nothing is left with us. In this sense, the transparent polypropylene is the same as OPET. We produce sheets from resin and form them into products.
Thus, OPET and polypropylene are totally different from OPS. We have made a huge upfront investment, and they now generate more cash than the amount invested. That is partly why we boldly include the figure of ordinary income before depreciation in our financial statements.
