This is our third year since we had started this effort. However, no food is better than hot food that has just been prepared. We gave the product the name Nama-kara-Sozai, because the container was intended to make fresh ingredients into prepared food simply by microwaving them. Finally, this year, it was launched in different locations. After a dedicated section is created, there will definitely be some shoppers that use it repeatedly. As expected, food is better when it has just been made. It is ready to be eaten immediately after being microwaved. What you see at the bottom right is in fact a soup with fresh vegetables. Formerly, soup reminded us either of minestrone, clam chowder and other heavy soups or of soup containing dried vegetables. Now, new soups that fall in between these types can be offed at affordable prices of around 200 yen. They have been launched in many stores. As it is offered at more and more stores, you will realize that hot prepared food, such as croquettes, is not sold in microwavable containers, although it is thought that the food is microwaved at home. If any such food is made available in the microwavable food section, shoppers will misunderstand that the food they purchase in supermarkets can also be microwaved. As a result, they complain that the container has melted or that holes have appeared in it. When I asked a supermarket manager about this, he replied that it was true. Some complaints have included requests to clean or replace microwave ovens. This drives a rapid shift from OPS containers without oil resistance to polypropylene containers with oil and acid resistance for croquettes and similar food. As I mentioned earlier, supermarkets offer few products to be consumed after they are microwaved. After the section described earlier is launched, shoppers will microwave food they purchase there, and the containers will need to be changed into microwavable ones. By the way, food available at convenience stores is all in microwavable containers -- and has been since the beginning. At the moment, microwavable noodles are a smash hit. Komatsu, who spoke earlier, says that they may set a trend. Please give them a try. Convenience stores are open 24 hours a day. They sell microwavable noodles for around 300 yen per unit. They contain fresh vegetables, tasty slices of roast pork and raw noodles. After being microwaved, they are delicious. Technologies are advancing at a rapid pace. Regrettably, at the moment, I think that the largest gap between supermarkets and convenience stores lies in noodles. I am proposing improvements of noodles to supermarket managers. If more of such noodle products are commercialized, the microwaveable food market will grow accordingly.
