This HMR market may be the only market that is increasing. In response, supermarkets are vigorously expanding their spaces for ready-made food. Convenience stores are widening the variety of ready-made food items available. Major food manufacturers are entering the market. In addition, restaurants are also aiming to enter the HMR market. Accordingly, we established a Sales Development Department to work with restaurants and major restaurant chains in developing bento meals or take-out items that they can sell in the evenings and later in the day. As a result, restaurants are targeting the HMR market. New supermarkets are creating spaces where shoppers can eat within their stores. When I visit such supermarkets, I see elderly men and women eating bento or other ready-made food they have bought there. At the time, I thought that supermarkets would take on the eat-out market. Taking this into account, the HMR market is growing and supermarkets should take it on without fail. Every time I meet a supermarket manager, I say that the ready-made food sold in the supermarket must be made more delicious in order to take on the HMR market.
