・ There are three key phrases in management that I emphasize. ・ The first is “decisiveness and speed.” The financial market, the business and natural environment, and the needs and tastes of customers are changing drastically. In this environment, daily decisions make significant differences, and getting a step ahead of the competition will give us a great advantage. ・ The insurance business in Asia is a good example. ・ The Group paid attention to potential growth and profitability in Asia and decided to expand into Asia in the very early stage. We acquired AVIVA’s Asia business and Mingtai in Taiwan. We recently started a life insurance business in Asia ahead of the competition. We have promptly executed strategies. ・ As a result, the Group’s non-life insurance business has grown to become No. 1 in the ASEAN region and ranks among the top five in a number of countries. The Group’s life insurance business in Asia has been steadily producing results. ・ Another example is the business of MSI Primary Life, the domestic life insurance subsidiary. ・ The key point for MSI Primary Life is that the company started business early in response to changes in the regulatory environment and market needs and formed an alliance with a major U.S. company that had experience in the field. After that, the partner of the company had changed, and the company became our wholly-owned subsidiary. Meanwhile, the company chose business models promptly in response to the market environment and market needs and has enhanced its expertise on risk management and capabilities to develop attractive products. ・ There were a number of life insurance companies that provided variable annuity insurance, but most of them have left the market. Meanwhile, MSI Primary Life has continued to provide products in a challenging market environment and has developed trust. The company has established an overwhelming presence in the bancassurance market and has grown steadily in the life insurance market, which is said to be much more mature than the non-life insurance market. ・ As the leader of the MS&AD Group, I will take the lead in achieving the Medium-Term Management Plan with decisiveness and speed. As a market leader, we will enhance enterprise value through initiatives to stay a step ahead of the competition. ・ The second key word is “transparency.” ・ I believe that transparency in management is indispensable for sophistication of governance and enhancement of enterprise value. Transparency also means proactive disclosure. ・ We have many stakeholders, including investors, customers, agents, and employees. ・ To continue to grow and be accepted in the market, we need to listen humbly to the opinions and voices of stakeholders both inside and outside the Company and to live up to their expectations. ・ Constructive communication with investors always gives us a new awareness. ・ Looking at the recent trend of the Company’s stock price, I am concerned that our value is not being recognized. ・ Our efforts to increase understanding of our value may be inadequate. ・ I have realized that we need to work harder to increase the understandability of our strengths and strategies. ・ We recognize that we must redouble our efforts to deliver our strengths and strategies in a more straightforward and easy-to-understand manner. ・ The last key word is “diversity,” which we emphasize as one of our strengths.
