I will begin by relating the background to development of the management vision and my own thoughts on the matter. As you know, the automotive industry has entered what has been called a period of major upheaval, and strains have appeared accompanying the company’s rapid growth the past few years. Since SUBARU is showing some fraying around the edges and problems have come into focus, we decided to formulate a new management vision. I expressed my thinking in a message published at the time I became president. We intend to cultivate SUBARU’s fundamental capability as a company and restore lost trust as quickly as possible, stay true to the brand principle of providing “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” to customers, and make SUBARU a company that our customers can trust and resonate with, not just an automaker.
